prado internet access ~ support ~ status

Current System Status:

Wednesday, May 15, 2002 11:00 PM Prado's mail server is on a part of Pacific Bell's network which is experiencing intermittent problems today. This means there will be some delays in delivering and receiving email.

Saturday, January 5, 2002 4:30AM AboveNet is experiencing problems on their network which is why you may not be able to connect to anything outside Prado's network. They have an engineer working to correct the problem and hope to have it resolved shortly.

Tuesday, November 20, 2001 11:00 Internet-wide problems having to do with Domain Name Service (DNS) having been plaguing Internet Users earlier today. This has combined with some connectivity problems to make the net very unresponsive today.

We have reconfigured our systems so that Prado and some of its customers are using the most reliable name servers available. Customers who have hard-coded addresses for DNS servers into their dial-up configuration may want to change to get reliable server addresses dynamically from Prado. You can call us for help with this.

Friday, October 12, 2001 13:00 While setting up a new nameserver on the evening of the 10th, we accidentally propagated some out of date dns information including an incorrect address for our mail server. This resulted in some people getting error messages or unusual delays when sending mail to a Prado customer.

Although we fixed the DNS data as soon as we became aware of the error, new DNS data takes some time to propagate. The incorrect data stored in caches on various machines must "time-out" before users see the new data. We expect this "time-out" period has passed for almost all machines, but if you are still having problems with mail, please call us so that we can help solve those problems.

Saturday, August 25, 2001 05:00 We are still trying to locate the cause of errors on our circuit between San Jose and Hayward. Problems with this circuit should not affect your ability to dial-up, or your access to the Internet, but may cause intermittent problems with access to mail and web-sites.

Friday, August 24 2001 04:45 Our T1 connection between San Jose and Hayward has been down for testing. We have been getting intermittent drops in connectivity on this line. A technician will be dispatched later today to check and repair the problem. Until then, some mail and web host access will be affected.

Scheduled Downtime:

Wednesday, August 22 2001 02:05 Our T1 connection between San Jose and Hayward will be down for testing. The testing may take as long as two hours. As a result, dial-up and other services will be intermittent.

Recent Problems:

Sunday, July 01 2001 12:05 Our main connection is still down. Our backup connection is working to provide dial-up, e-mail and a few other services. Some customer web sites are still not accessible from the outside world. No word from our SJ-Hayward connection provider.

Sunday, July 01 2001 11:35 Our main connection is still down. We have added some more backup connections to our mail and web servers.

Sunday, July 01 2001 10:00 We have learned that there was a fiber cut which took down many lines, including our San Jose - Hayward connection. We will report more information when it becomes available.

Sunday, July 01 2001 09:10 Our main connection between San Jose and Hayward went down just before 8 a.m. While it is being brought back up, a temporary connection has been established for people to gather their mail and view this status page.

Monday, April 30, 2001, 11:50 p.m. The system will be unavailable for 10 minutes for network maintenance.

2000.04.25, 13:00 Our provider Above.Net is experiencing problems with their internal network, starting since about 10:30. The result is that our connection to the Internet is spotty at best. We have been assured by their technical staff that they are working to restore net as soon as they can. We will post updates when we receive them.
