Personal Computer Name and Static IP Address are actually two names for the same option.
Prado will reserve an IP address for your machine. Each time you make your dial-up connection you will be using that address. You can tell us what name you would like to have associated with the address. The name will have the form somename.prado.com.
We do not recommend this option for everyone. Every computer on the Internet must have a unique IP address, but there are a limited number of addresses available. Because of the recent rapid growth of the Internet it has become clear that if we are not careful with addresses we will run out. Dial-up users, because they are only on the net for a few hours each day, can often share an address with little inconvenience.

Some users however, because or their hardware or software, or because of the type of things they need to do, will want a static address.
There is a fee for this service.
